Brownies…always dessert that is sure to please. But sometimes, a regular mix can get a little unexciting so here are some fun and easy ways to dress up that regular brownie mix to make something extra special!

Peanut Butter Brownies:

Following the directions on the package, prepare the batter and pour it into your pan. Take about ½ cup or creamy peanut butter and melt it in the microwave. Pour two long strips of the melted peanut butter on top of the batter and swirl with a dinner knife. Bake as directed and, ta-da! Beautiful peanut butter-y brownies!

Mocha Brownies:

To make these, replace the water called for in the recipe with COFFEE! Also, you can add some chocolate chips (about half the bag) to make the recipe extra chocolatey.

Bake as directed! Use some good strong coffee for finals week to perk everyone up!

Turtle Brownies:

For this recipe, make the batter as directed but add as many chopped pecans as you want (1/2-3/4 cup).

Then, pour the batter in the pan.

Unwrap about ½ of a bag of caramels. Put them in a microwave safe bowl and melt, stirring at 30 second increments (use a lower power setting on your microwave so you don’t burn them!)

Add about a tablespoon of milk/cream to the caramel to thin it out enough to pour on top of the batter.

Bake as directed.

Even easier ways to mix up a regular brownie mix:

  • Mix in just about any candy you want, Andes mints, butterscotch chips, white chocolate chips, mini Reese’s cups, M&Ms, etc.
  • Be creative with your frosting choice! Choose a coconut-pecan frosting to make German chocolate brownies, or try one of the many new frosting flavors to add a special twist!
  • Layer chocolate chips, crushed graham crackers, and then mini marshmallows on top of the brownies just a few minutes before they are done and allow the marshmallows to brown slightly and you have s’mores brownies!
